Mark Post is best known for his research on lab-grown meat and his proof of concept for a cultured hamburger in August 2013. In addition to his university research, particularly on fundamental processes such as vascular patterning, neovascularization, endothelial and smooth muscle cell function and restenosis, he launched the company MosaMeat together with food technologist Peter Verstrate in 2015, gave numerous TEDx talks and was selected to join the SingularityU the Netherlands faculty due to his pioneering research on cultured meat which is supposed to hit the market by 2020.
